Casual Dental Assistant — paediatric specialist practice

Kingsford Paediatric Dentistry Kingsford, New South Wales

$34–$40/hrListed 2 weeks ago159 views

We need one or two casual assistants to cover Monday, Wednesday, and school holiday periods, when our volume roughly doubles.

Paediatric assisting is a different skill set. A good deal of the job is managing a nervous four-year-old and an equally nervous parent at the same time, and holding your nerve during behaviour management. Clinical assisting matters, but temperament matters more, and we train for the rest.

We also treat a significant number of patients with autism and intellectual disability, and run desensitisation appointments most weeks.

What the practice needs

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting preferred but not essential
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • Patience with distressed children and anxious parents
  • Availability during NSW school holidays

What you get

  • $34-$40 per hour including casual loading
  • Genuinely flexible rostering around study commitments
  • Paid in-house training in paediatric behaviour management
  • Pathway to a permanent part-time role

About the practice

A specialist paediatric practice near UNSW, treating children from infancy through adolescence, including patients with additional needs.
