A specialist referral practice runs on different mechanics to a general practice. We have no patient marketing and no recall programme — around 95% of our work arrives on a referral from a general dentist, and our entire commercial position rests on those relationships.
The role centres on that: managing the referral pipeline, making sure reports go back to referrers within 48 hours, running the quarterly referrer evenings, and handling the practice operations around them. Also rostering four staff, health fund reconciliation, and compliance.
Three days a week, and we are flexible about which three. The practice uses Dental4Windows and a referral portal we built with a local developer.
What the practice needs
- Practice management experience, ideally in a specialist or referral setting
- Strong written communication — you will draft referrer correspondence
- Comfortable with health fund claiming and reconciliation
- Available three days a week
